Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially inaugurated the Chenab railway bridge, now hailed as the world’s highest railway bridge, signifying a giant leap for India’s infrastructure prowess. Spanning the mighty Chenab River in Jammu & Kashmir, this marvel is part of the long-awaited Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, and stands taller than even the Eiffel Tower.
Built at an altitude of 359 meters above the riverbed, the bridge is not just a symbol of connectivity but of India's engineering excellence. With this, Kashmir is now connected to the rest of the country by rail, bringing a dream that was decades in the making into reality.
PM Modi’s interaction with engineers and workers highlighted the enormous human effort behind this achievement. Speaking at the event, he called the project a "game changer for the people of Kashmir," promising improved mobility, economic development, and better integration of the region with the rest of India.
With the addition of India’s first cable-stayed Anji bridge and new Vande Bharat Express trains on the route, the region is on the cusp of a transport revolution.
